Just a friendly reminder for everybody out there who has WordPress and uses Google Analytics on their blog… Don’t be in a rush when updating your plugins.
I was in a rush and just realized that, when I last updated my Google Analytics, I neglected to update (re-enter) all of my information so I haven’t been tracking a darn thing. Apparently in the past when I updated it I remembered to update all of my settings but the previous time, I didn’t so I lost all of my stats for the last month.
Lesson learned.

Lately I’ve been quite involved with Twitter. If you haven’t been to twitter.com, I would definitely recommend taking a look.
Here is how Twitter works. Let’s say that you’re interested in preventing and removing computer viruses, like I am. You could do a search for “virus”, “viruses” or even “computer virus”. Then you would find people who are tweeting about viruses. Once you find them, you can follow them and every time they post a message, you’ll see it. In turn, when they see you following them, they might follow you and get your tweets.
On Twitter, you have the ability to send short messages (the technical term is “MicroBlogging”) to everyone who follows you. You gain followers by tweeting (posting your comments) and following other people who interest you. If you want to send a message to someone, put a @ symbol in front of their name like @BidenPC. If you want to send a direct message (other people can’t see it) Put a D and a space then their name. That looks like D BidenPC. The catch is that to send a Direct Message you have to be following them and they have to be following you. Got it?
If you want to see how it works, go to twitter.com and create your own account. Then go to tweetdeck.com and download their Twitter interface. It’s great! And finally, go to Biden PC and follow me on Twitter.

As you can probably see, I’ve been doing a lot of work with WordPress lately. So I want to share my experiences with you so you can benefit from my trials and errors. :=)
With WordPress 2.6, they decided to place captions under all the images that you post. That is, if you post them with SEO friendly ALT Text. Well, I want the ALT Text but the captions looked horrible and off-center. So I found a post by Francesco that tells how to Center WordPress Captions. It works and looks great.
Thanks Francesco! I appreciate the help.

I installed Joost De Valk’s Sociable plugin for WordPress as is described in the Free Downloadable Software Review Blog where they review and show you where you can download free software. I have to say that Sociable worked flawlessly. Instead of the large Digg icon at the top of every post, you will now see many bookmarking links at the bottom of my posts. I love it.
Sociable worked as promised and I can’t wait to see what else Joost has cooked up.
Happy Computing,

Quoted from Anthony’s post at http://antbag.com/how-to-install-wordpress-with-1-and-1-hosting/.
“When I first installed WordPress, I had a lot of trouble finding information that pertained to the exact problems I was running into. Once I got WordPress up and running, I realized that it just wasn’t that hard to set up. Since then, I’ve seen numerous people on the WordPress forums seeking help with the same problems day in and day out.
My blog and web host is 1&1 and I’ve been pleased with the service I have. If you don’t yet have a host, 1&1 has packages as low as $2.99/month that has all you need to run a website (even your own WordPress site) including your domain name. Having said that, 1&1 has their own blog that you can set up through the control panel but is extremely limited in features and options.
This blog is actually a WordPress blog. I’d recommend going ahead and setting up a database and installing the real thing…………..and I’m going to show you how to do it.”
Seriously, if you want to install WordPress on 1and1, Anthony’s blog post is the EASY way to get a blog up and running quickly. Trust me, that’s how I have my blog running. =)
And, once you have your blog up and running, don’t forget to perform SEO on it so you can have high Google rankings.
Happy Computing,
Tim
