The New Google Local Business Statistics Suck

Google Local Business is a great service for free local advertising. If you want to know how to do it, you can read my blog post here.

The only real problem that I have with Google Local Business is that its new statistics are not at all credible. It says that you have received 8 clicks on your website but it also says that you have had 0 impressions. The impressions are how many people have seen your Google Local Business ad.

Lets see, if nobody sees your ad, how can they click on it? It would be like going through the entire process of buying a car without the dealer even knowing that you stepped onto the lot. Impossible!

Google, you have some great products and I am glad that you started including the statistics for your Local Business advertising section. But please, if you’re going to do it, do it right. We should see results that look like

Google Local Business Statistics Good

instead of

Google Local Business Statistics Bad

Registry Settings Used by iTunes Drivers for Importing and Burning CDs and DVDs are Missing…

“ERROR: The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing… Please re-install iTunes”

Have you seen this error? If you have, Apple gives some relatively easy but dangerous (if not followed exactly) to fix it.

Unfortunately, in my case, their instructions didn’t fix the problem. What I did was go to http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php and click on the “Drivers Downloads” near the bottom of the page. I downloaded and installed the file for 32-bit and 64-bit systems and rebooted Windows. Upon reboot, iTunes was able to use the CD drive and the warning was gone.

Are you Looking to Buy a New computer? You Might Want to Wait.

If you’re looking to buy a new PC, you might want to wait a little while. Microsoft is going to release its next Operating system, called Windows 7, on October 22nd and it is much better than Vista.

Windows 7 is what Vista was supposed to be. It has all the features that Windows Vista does but in a faster and superior way. Windows 7 is fast and lean where Vista was slow and fat. Adrian Kingsley-Hughes posted some preliminary benchmark scores in this article. These numbers are a bit old but I think they make the point.

If you have to purchase a PC before October 22nd, I would recommend checking out this Microsoft site because details how you can get a free upgrade from the Vista that comes with your PC to the new Windows 7.

In case you’re wondering why I am hyping this new version of Windows, I can tell you that I have had it on my laptop since the Beta first came out and I think it’s great. I even switched a client to it while it was still in Beta and she loved it. That requires confidence because as a rule, I don’t recommend using pre-release products. Using beta or release candidate software, you never know what bugs or problems you’ll run into. Windows 7 has been a dream and I’ve had no major issues with it. Try saying that about Vista…

So, wait to buy your next PC and upgrade your Vista computer to Windows 7. You’ll be glad you did.

To get the best antivirus Scan from Avira Antivir, you have to change 1 small setting in Avira. If you don’t, not all files will be checked for viruses.

1. Open Avira.

2. Click on “Configuration” just above the status view.

3. Under “Scanner” choose “All Files” instead of “Use Smart Extensions” or “Use File Extension List”

4. Click “OK”.

5. Run scan.

6. Be Happy.
